DUI Lawyer Houston Cost (first offense)

Just about every case is going to have different defense lawyer costs based on complexity. Here is a guestimate of your costs & fees….

DWI Criminal Court Fees – Up to $5,000

Criminal Fine – $2,000, 3 days to 180 days in jail, lose license for up to 1 year

Annual Fees To Keep Driver’s License – Up to $2,000 per year for 3 years

Criminal Defense Lawyer Fees – $2,000 to $10,000 estimated

How Much is Bail Money?

First time DWI offenders normally have a bail of $500.

1st DUI Cost

You could pay as much as a $2,000 fine for your first DWI in Houston, Harris County, Texas. You might lose your license for up to one years and also have to pay additional penalties just to keep your license. First time Texas DWI offenders may serve 72 hours in jail, up to six months in jail. There will be required DWI education and community service / probation.

2nd DUI Cost

You could pay as much as a $4,000 fine and spend up to one year in jail. You can lose your license for up to 2 years and pay additional annual fees to keep your license.

Criminal Fine – $4,000, 30 days to 1 year in jail, lose license up to 2 years

Annual Fees to Keep Driver’s License – Up to $2,000 per year for 3 years

3rd & 4th DWI Cost

  • Max $10,000 fine
  • Two – Ten Years in State Prison
  • Lose Drivers License up to Two Years
  • Up to $2,000 per year for 3 years annual fee to keep driver’s license in Texas

Add On Charges for DWI in Houston, Texas

DWI Child Endangerment

Child under 15 in vehicle, you can be charged with child endangerment.

  • Max $10,000 fine, up to 2 yrs jail, lose license up to 6 months, other fees apply

Intoxication Manslaughter

  • This is a 2nd Degree Felony.
  • Two – Twenty years in State Prison [MANDATORY MINIMUM IS IN EFFECT]
  • Max $10,000 Criminal Fine

Open Container Charge

  • This is a Class C Misdemeanor
  • $500 fine
  • If you are also charged with DWI, then this becomes a Class B Misdemeanor + 6 Days in Jail
